KITANOMARU PARK

Kitanomaru Garden is an important woodland garden situated in the center of Tokyo. This garden which continues on into the northern part of the Imperial Palace is planted with many broadleafed evergreen trees.
In the center of this garden is a large pond and well kept lawns which are surrounded by many beautiful deciduous trees such as Japanese maples, keyaki and oak. This garden is a wild bird sanctuary and many berrying trees and shrubs have been planted to encourage wild birds to nest. The deciduous trees are always very attractive in autumn. The Kitanomaru Park is administered by The Ministry of Environment together with Kokyomae Hiroba (Garden Plaza) which is located directly in front of the Imperial Palace.
